Makeup Steal

Elf cosmetics are simply wonderful and extremely inexpensive! I bought all of the items pictured above for under $30... that is insane. If you find a Kabuki brush anywhere else it is at least $25-$40 (that is the short white and black brush) and the Elf one was only $6. That is such a difference for the same brush and same results.

Normally inexpensive makeup is considered "cheap" and would break your skin out but this stuff is different! It doesn't break my skin out and doesn't break the bank either.

Their matte lip colors are amazing and stay all day and the Sunkissed Glow Bronzer is perfect for a natural look after some hours in the sun. I love natural makeup.

My grandmother has worked in cosmetics for as long as I can remember and like any grandma she would always tell me that I am too beautiful to wear makeup but she said if I did ever wear it, to make it look like I had nothing on. Now it is popular to contrast and be dramatic with eyeliner and shadows and lipsticks but to this day my favorite makeup look is the natural one.

Positive brings Positive

As a species we relate bright colors to being good. If you go to the grocery store and are picking up your fresh vegetables for the week, you aren't going to pick the brown and dingy ones. You are going to pick the brightest most vibrant tomato or cucumber there is.

We should relate that same mind set to our daily attitudes. I completely understand that some Monday's are just the crappiest days you'll ever face but I can promise you that being bright and positive, brings the positive. (Say that five times fast)

A lot of things are changing in my life and although change can be scary, it can be good. I have to continue being positive and excited for every day that the good Lord blessed me with.

I wanted to post this topic specifically because being happy is fashionable and it is beautiful and it is healthy. So, my advice is to stay busy and fill your days with bright healthy foods and positive attitudes.

How to... Pop a Zit

Acne... what a sensitive subject. In my opinion there is nothing worse than a zit. Every girls dream is to have flawless skin but it's not always a reality. Sweat, crappy food and stress all cause flaws in our skin. but just like everything in life there is a time and a place and a how to pop a zit. I'm what you would call a "picker" so to not leave scars or to not have huge red marks on my face I had to develop a method to popping a zit.

My method:

1. Place a hot towel on your face, this opens up the pores

2. Using a combdone* extractor or a sanitized needle, pop the center of that zit

3. Using two cotton swabs, take the ends and press down around the edges of the zit

4. The core should pop right out but make sure to stop if clear fluid or blood comes out!!

5. Put Neosporin on the zit (this is my trick) so that there is little redness and no infection

6. If it's puffy or swollen place a piece of ice on the area

7. Wake up the next day and you're good to go with a small dab of concealer!

My advice for those zits that are under the skin would be to follow those same steps but to LEAVE IT ALONE if no core comes out!

A few other things that help my skin are obviously washing my face morning and night, staying away from soda, washing my face immediately after the gym or after an eyebrow wax (they use oils that break me out) and trying to manage my stress (sometimes I can't control that one).

The only thing more satisfying than finally popping that zit is not having any at all!

The New Lip Fad

2/28/2015

New York Fashion Week, most magazines and every other Instagram selfie are all featuring the newest beauty fad... The Dark and Bold lip. It isn't as difficult to achieve this statement lip as it looks. All you need are 3 items and your pout will be pucker ready!

Things you will need:
  1. Vaseline
  2. Your Favorite darker shade of lip liner
  3. A dark shade of lip stick

Apply the Vaseline to your lips after exfoliating them with a towel and warm water (or any lip scrub you love). The Vaseline will help your lipstick not dry out throughout the evening. Then use a sharpened lip liner pencil and trace the natural outline of your lips, accentuating the dimples in the middle of the upper and lower lip.

Using your finger to dab on the lipstick and VOILA!, two perfectly outlined and stained lips!

*The darker the lipstick the darker you will want your lip liner

Scrub the Flaws Away!

Who wouldn't want perfect and flawless skin? Ill put it this way, I would give my left pinky toe to wake up with a glowing and even complexion every morning. My skin isn't bad, I had difficulties in high school but I learned how to not pick my face and wash it morning and night and it has never looked better.

One of my secrets to clear skin, not only on my face but on my body too, is Frank Body Scrub. This scrub is made entirely of coffee, vitamins, natural oils and minerals and was created to target dry skin, eczema, stretch marks, acne and scarring.

My suggestions for using this scrub would have to be:

  1. Do a spot test on a small patch of your skin before scrubbing your entire body (I have super sensitive skin but it works for me)
  2. Rinse your body in the shower first
  3. Then turn the water off and sit in the tub with a little excess water in the bottom
  4. Scrub a dub dub
  5. Let dry
  6. Turn the shower back on
  7. Rinse the grounds off of your skin and then use body wash and a lufa to rinse off the dead skin and any of the coffee residue
  8. Clean the shower while you are rinsing off
  9. BOOM! Beautiful and fresh skin and no mess at all!!

Take pictures of your first Frank experience, post them on Instagram, hashtag "thefrankeffect" and make sure to tag @anerdinpearls

By the end of the scrub you will have most likely made 5 pots of coffee in your bath tub but trust me your skin will be thanking you and everyone else will be jealous of your radiance!
