I can't believe it has already been two years. Thank you all so so much for being patient with me and for continuing to follow my fashion life on Instagram! This past fall I took a huge break from blogging due to the fact that if I didn't, I was going to fail my last semester of college. So much was going on outside of school too, with work and applying for full jobs after graduation. I ended up accepting an offer with one of the top defense companies and I couldn't be happier with my decisions. On top of that I began the process of building my very first home! I can't wait to take y'all on that design journey. Needless to say, I have been very busy and God is good!

I've been waiting to start blogging again because I wanted to let my life calm down to allow me to really focus on fashion and creating again. I have lots of posts to catch up on including my recent trips to Europe and NYC and I need to wrap up my e-book!

Well, at least it is here in Florida. It is the time of the year that the humidity goes away and it is bearable to be outside for more than 15 minutes. I wanted to write this post because I always struggle with what to wear to weddings mainly because I love wearing white, nude and black... three colors I feel don't belong at weddings. White: for obvi reasons.. Nude: it is too close to white (unless its more of a brown nude)... Black: it belongs at funerals and black tie events. I've pulled a few pieces from my closet to show what I would wear to a wedding! I hope this helps!

This dress/shoe combo is great for outdoor or summer/fall transitional weddings.

This maxi is so flattering, regardless of the function!! Make it more formal by pairing cute strappy heels or dress it down by wearing some light colored wedges.

This was my second trip to Oahu and I loved the "Top of Waikiki" restaurant so much the first time, I knew I wanted to make it part of this trip as well. It definitely didn't disappoint! It is a little on the pricier side of things but the view from the top is priceless. Downtown Oahu at night reminds me a lot of New York City... which is probably why I love it so much. I got so many compliments on this dress and the best part about that is, it's under 20$!!! (click to read more)

When I bout this two piece set I honestly was so excited to be in a tropical place and wear it! It was so comfortable and fun and perfect for the hot Hawaiian nights. It didn't hurt that I filled my belly full of some amazingly fresh sushi.

Y'all.......... I DOVE WITH THE SHARKS!!!!! This was the craziest experience of my life. I've never been more nervous. After getting into the cage, it was actually incredible. Sharks are gorgeous creatures that are so misunderstood. (I can say this because I was safe behind cage bars LOL) I highly recommend this as a bucket list item though.

We found the coolest little park filled with all sorts of food trucks and you better believe that we tried a bunch of them! Such fresh food, we ended up getting some Korean BBQ that was so messy and spicy and yummy! That is one of my favorite parts of traveling... stumbling upon little gold mines of local favorites.

On our last night in Oahu, we went to a Luau and enjoyed fire dancers, fresh fruits and cooked pig! It was a great way to wind down the trip and enjoy the Hawaiian culture one last time. My besty and I actually bought the dresses we are wearing above while we were in New Orleans for my birthday! Lol don't make fun of us for how long out we plan our outfits HA.

This was yet another trip I was so in love with and I am glad I got to cross some things off my bucket list.

]]><![CDATA[Hawaii PT. 1]]>Fri, 29 Jul 2016 20:27:40 GMThttps://www.anerdinpearls.com/fashion/hawaii-pt-1Oh my goodness! Long time no blog right?! Sorry about that y'all... it has been a month. Getting to Hawaii was a trip in itself! We flew from JAX to ATL to LAX. Then got stuck in LA for the night (with no luggage I might add)... We bought souvenir t-shirts on Hollywood boulevard just so that we didn't have to look the exact same going to the airport the next day! I won't even get into the underwear situation... HA! We finally got on a plane to Hawaii the next morning and ended up in Maui, spent the day there and then finally made it to Oahu!

Maui was beyond gorgeous! I took a ton of pictures of the scenery, very few of myself considering I was in three day old leggings and a two day old makeup (YUCK) At that point though I was just so happy to be surrounded by God's beautiful creations. I wish that we could have stayed longer in Maui, but I will definitely be back!

Vacationing in Hawaii is the ultimate time to play up any floral or leaf print articles of clothing and I took full advantage of it! The funniest part about that night in this leaf dress was that everyone in our travel group dressed in BOLD leaf print so when we were walking around people were laughing and asking us if we planned it... DUH! Of course we did. Mario Lopez's restaurant BUHO was seriously incredible... I could have eaten 20 of those churros dipped in that milk hot chocolate (too die for!!!)

Hiking Diamond Head was such an incredible adventure! The view from the top is literally breathtaking and this picture does not do it justice. Well, this was only half of my trip but I didn't want to overwhelm you with all of the fun! I hope all of you beauties have a wonderful week! I know I will be wishing I was back in this gorgeous place as I pour that coffee bright and early Monday morning. XOXO

New Orleans is the place to be to have a good time that is for darn sure! We had an amazing room at the Marriott in the French Quarter with this incredible view of the city. We ate a ton of seriously delicious food (aka we ate beignets every day of our trip). We had a few too many hurricanes/grenades but it was a blast to get away for the weekend and spend time with my best girlfriends... and the few bachelor parties we met along the way.

Hands down our best decision of the entire trip was to buy tickets to the Royal Street Stroll Wine and Food Experience. It was one flat fee that got you all of the food and wine that you could consume. On top of that the jazz music that was cascading through the festival was incredible. We danced and ate and drank until we were content... yet somehow we still managed to make it to Cafe du Monde to down our last round of beignets. (I seriously went and bought like 5 new work out outfits just to motivate me to get the gym after this trip haha).

It was sad to leave but we left with the smell of Bourbon street burned into our noses, a greater appreciation for red beans and rice, tighter jeans and a lot of amazing memories.

Life has been so fun and exciting now that my school schedule has calmed down and work life has picked up! Happy Birthday to me! LOL
I just have to share this with you guys: I turn 22 today and feel like I'm a young old lady. I went out for dinner and drinks last night and we ended up getting a table at a great night club in town but I just cannot hang like I used to freshman year of college. At 18/19 I would have been right in the center of all the hype but at 22 I was glad to be off to the side by the DJ. (Too sweaty and too many people groping and grinding)

It was fun nonetheless and I truly do have some amazing friends and people in my life that I will forever be grateful for!

Take a second and appreciate this dress... it's fun, flowy, versatile AND IT'S ONLY $15!!! I was blown away when I saw this piece on ASOS. I took a little bit of a risk because on the model pictured on the site it looks a little frumpy but I went for it anyway and I'm sure glad I did.

Long flowy skirts, choker necklaces and straw bags are HOT right now and this outfit hits all of the marks! During this shoot in this gorgeous part of town we were walking along the shops and spotted this amazing VW bus. I giggled at how perfect it would be for the background of these pictures and hoped that the owner of the vehicle wasn't sleeping in the back of it LOL.

Back on the subject of choker necklaces and straw bags... It always cracks me up when styles return and are bigger than they ever were. I remember in elementary school those jelly choker necklaces were all the rage. Straw bags were the same thing and now you cant find them for less than a hundred dollars in department stores! I however found this beauty for $10 at a Ross. H&M and Target are jumping on the bandwagon and are adding straw clutches and bags to their inventory... shop them while you can!

I am so excited for summer and all of the wonderful adventures I will be going on! I will be traveling to New Orleans in a few weeks for my birthday and we are going to the Wine and Food Festival on Bourbon Street! This skirt would fit in perfectly in that atmosphere.

I know I've mentioned this probably a thousand times but occasional dressing is so important to me. I feel like not dressing for the occasion (even if its just sunflower picking) is like showing up to a costume party not in costume.
